Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O Level are equivalent qualifications grade for grade.

All the students at Alpha Girls School will have to select the subjects they want to take in Cambridge O levels in Grade 9.

We will provide a range of O level subjects from which our students can select. These will include:

An accountant’s primary role is to produce data that helps companies make important decisions. Without accountants, it would be impossible for businesses to measure performance, and the decision-making process would be about as accurate as a stab in the dark. Where there is business, there is accounting. You can’t have one without the other, and it’s no surprise that with business on the rise, accounting as a career field has been increasing with it. Increased government regulation has also meant a growth in the number of accounting staff in each company to ensure compliance with new regulations. There are loads of different fields available to students who pursue an accounting degree, such as internal auditing, cost accounting, forensic accounting, management accounting – the list goes on. With a degree in accounting, the available pathways are far and wide.

Business and related subjects (such as the ‘FAME’ group – finance, accounting, management, and economics) are among the most popular fields of study at universities worldwide, particularly at the graduate level. Business graduates are in high demand worldwide, business touches on many aspects of modern human society, and careers with a business degree are diverse and often highly paid. Business graduates go on to work in different sectors, and not all of them are those who would typically associate with business in general. More obvious careers with a business degree include roles in accounting and finance departments, which take in large numbers of business degree graduates. Other sectors with high demand for business graduates include marketing and advertising, retail, sales, human resources, and business consultancy. The diversity of careers with a business degree underlies the subject’s appeal for many students who can further use their background in business to pursue roles within SMEs (small- to medium-sized enterprises), innovative new start-ups, charities, non-profit organizations, NGOs, and when a bright idea teams up with the knowledge to back it up, one may even consider launching their own business.

Chemistry is often referred to as the "Central Science" because it helps to connect physical sciences, like math and physics, with applied sciences like biology, medicine, and engineering. Breakthroughs in fields such as genetics, biochemistry, medicine, materials science, forensics, nanotechnology, drug discovery, the environment, and next-generation computer hardware are all driven by chemistry. Chemistry helps in developing research, problem-solving, and analytical skills. It helps students to challenge ideas and shows them how to work things out through logic and step-by-step reasoning. Chemistry is a great choice of subject for people who want a career in health and clinical professions, such as medicine, nursing, biochemistry, dentistry, or forensic science. It will also equip you for a career in the industry, for example, in the petrochemical or pharmaceutical industry. Chemistry opens doors to many career opportunities because chemists are essential for many positions in the industry that are highly desirable for science teaching and suit careers in public service and management. Both the public and the private sectors increasingly draw their higher management strata from chemistry graduates. Students who pick chemistry often also study a wide range of subjects, including psychology, sociology, biology, science in society, physics, applied science, health & social care, critical thinking, and environmental studies.

Physics is the fundamentals of science and plays an important role in all the natural sciences. Physics can be defined as the science of matter, motion, and energy. The ultimate aim of the learner in physics is to find a string of laws that are reliable, self-sufficient, and connected at some level. Physics reveals the mathematical beauty in the universe at scales ranging from subatomic to cosmological levels. Studying physics strengthens quantitative reasoning and problem-solving skills that are important in areas beyond physics. Physics students are prepared to work on innovative ideas in science and technology, academia, the government, and the private sector. Careers might focus on basic research in astrophysics, cosmology, particle physics, atomic physics, photonics, etc. The CAIE O Level Physics curriculum prepares individuals for any field because it teaches students how to analyze complex problems and provides them with a strong mathematical background that can be applied to any technical field.
